‘Po Lin’ is a new tangle that was discovered in a window at the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. It is one of my favorite places to visit while in Hong Kong. I have been to the site, which also features Big Buddha, many times and each time see something new!
I named this tangle ‘Po Lin’ after the monastery founded in 1906. The words Po Lin beautifully translate to ‘Precious Lotus’.
For the modern calligraphy in the title, I have used Tombow’s Fudenosuke Brush Pen, Hard Tip. You can download a FREE Lettering Practice Workshop from the Tombow website here to learn modern calligraphy with this pen!
For drawing this tangle, I used Tombow’s new MONO Drawing Pens. They come in 01, 03 and 05 tip sizes. They are juicy with nice strong tips that don’t bend if you are like me and heavy handed when drawing.
For shading the tangle, I used Tombow MONO Drawing Pencil. These artist grade, extra-refined graphite pencils produce superior shading of your tangles. They come in 14 point strengths from soft 6B to a hard 6H. The shading here was done with B and 2B MONO Drawing Pencils.
